I was wondering how the great white hunters were doing in the big adventure. Also so what kind of black powder rifles have you guys taken on your hunting trip. I've nevr even shot a black powder rifle. I've heard they can be pretty damn accurate and shoot sone pretty big projectiles. Do you guys use ball or bullets? What did Davey Crocket shoot? I'm just curious.

Do they use smokeless gun powder so your firing position is not in jeopardy from the enemy?

I got back last night, and Bill and John are supposed to roll back in sometime tonight.

We are all shooting 50cal mussel loaders. They do make a 54cal, but 50cal is most common.

We use bullets, not balls. They have a cup/seal on the bottom, not a sabot....those are illegal here.

I am using a Traditions XLT pro, and the Billy, Shawn and Johnny are using Thompson Center''s.

I have mine sighted in for dead nuts on at 100yds. One can use a lighter bullet and more powder to reach out farther, but I would guess that 200yds would be the longest feasible shot without going super high dollar custom shit.

Can I shoot one of those man? I have never done it.

The powder is black powder. It is the more primitive smokey shit that has to clear for about 10 seconds before you can see if you got anything. Like Jimmy said they can get to 200 yds. but a good long shot to take is about 150 yds. You really want a shot at about 100 yds. I am using the 338 gr. platinum bullets in .50 cal. I use 100 gr. of black powder behind it. If you guys are interested in shooting a black powder riffle we can do that at the farm some weekend. I just need to set up the new shooting range.

Oh yeah. I forgot. We got skunked. Nobody got nothin' and in our camp that is uncommon.
