So,
Went to cosco yesterday and was "looking" at some stockpile foods. DOG FOOD could be the answer. yes i know its not the best tasting, or smelling but a little kibble could go along way. Sure it would take some time to get use to the taste but think of all the recipes we could start

Gravy train soup
Alpo skewers with um it up cheese
old Roy roll ups
beggin strips rolled pup o ronni treats

and lets not forget the cat food, for some reason cats have a more sophisticated pallet
turkey, tuna and beef could be on my menu!!

So in a survival situation could ya eat it? will it kill you, or just get you sick?

it wont kill u just not sure how well it would stay down and the smell could u even get it past your teeth or do u feed it to the dogs and cats then eat them

It could be done. Starvation will make you get over the smell of the food. You could get nutrition from these foods, hell our pets live off it right?

It depends a lot on weather the stuff is pasturized when it is rendered. Some Dog foods are and some are not. Dog food is made from rendered parts. Some parts are fresh from the processers and some parts are from the animal lying in the field for a few days. Dogs can handle a much wider and more dangerous varieties of bacteria and such than humans can. Most kibble dog foods have the top ingredient as corn meal. I wonder if this is why most dogs paws smell like fritos. Meats are usually a few steps down the list. It would take some getting used to but you gotta eat what is there. I guarantee that we all have eaten dog food or cat food at some point. Kids eat it all the time off the floor and we were all kids once, or twice, or still are.

not that i have peaked some interest....what would you think would be the most palatable?

Dude, Kibbles and bits. When I want a gourmet meal on Friday I would go with the Gravy Train.

Well if the world came to an end, I surmise that we do have enough personnel and guns to take over the dog food factory on I-70.
So it stands to reason that if you can survive off of it, we would be the only ones willing to endure the stuff, therefor we would have a huge source of food all to our selves with no competitors trying to steel our stock pile from us.

i still say (earler post) we go for the dog food so we can feed the dogs than we can eat them there are plenty of house pets to eat as long as we can keep them from starving
