watching this on the History channel now, kinda interesting. They have been showing a lot of "if the civilization falls apart" type shows lately. 2012 is closer..... :stirpot:

The potential collapse of civilization is an interesting topic for sure. I bet the most soft spoken, submissive house wife could become a demon in the face of not be able to care for her family in the event things were not as stable as they are now (or are things very stable now????)

I find the 2012 topic interesting but not sure I will drink the Kool Aid. There are a number of events that could have the same Apocoliptic results, good to be prepared for anyone of them.

In any case, when shit hits the fan, meet in Parker for our last stand. Orgies by night and some Zambie killin by day...

I guess that this week is apocalypse week on the history channel. I might have to see what they have on tonight.

I saw that show. Some of the theory was sound but I was a bit disappointed with the details. I think the show "assumed" a lot. If one has to sneak around town to keep safe from possible attackers how are you going to be concealing yourself while driving. I would think this would make you an even bigger target and visible from a much longer distance. Also, an old ass 6.2 liter GM diesel as more reliable then a "modern" car with all those electronic gadgets? Cough cough bullshit. I am glad the guy admitted that making your own biodiesel with some unfiltered WVO and some other chemicals would likely foul up the fuel system within 50 miles. It would have been good to go into more detail about the radio stuff. I don't care if you are in line of sight from 26 miles away with the antenna on top of the highest building using a cb radio. It will not reach out that far. The average cb puts out 2.5 watts. The highest a cb is allowed to go is 5 watts. Regular cb goes about 1-2 miles line of sight. Turned up and tuned in you can get 5, maybe 7 miles max. Elevation does not matter. It was smart to think about using a radio out of a cab because most of them use Marine type radios that have 25 watts or more of power. They use different frequencies than a cb but still have an emergency frequency. What was dumb was that most cab companies have their own base stations and one could just plug into the antenna for the base station with the 12v marine radio and broadcast without going to the highest building. If you can find the cab company in the phone book, look for a surplus store instead and go get some MRE's. Cat food sucks. They also have good survival gear there, duh. Find the gun store for some personal defence items. Find the local National Guard armory and get some gear. At that point I don't think they will mind. Their trucks are better BTW. Oh I forgot. They have tanks and such. I would personally go to the airport and "borrow" an airplane. Great radios, covers long distances, you can see for a long distance and can see a lot on the ground, you can spot game and other tasty animals, can stay out of the range of small arms etc. Just sayin'

I think that pretty much summs it up. The guy really spent a lot of work to try and conceal himself in a world where no one was there. Just sayin'.

Now "Man vs Wild" did a suburban setting show. I caught the last 10min of it last night and looked similar to the the Apocalypse Man one. The History channel is also showing a lot of "After humans are gone" type shows too. Maybe they are trying to tell us something. :stirpot:

OK, I am not going to write a novel here but... The Maya culture/society is long since gone. Why are people determined to believe that the end of their defined calendar is synonymous with the end of civilization?... Why the hell does anyone believe that this should be any different? F the Mayan calender.

Anyway, if someone finds something interesting, they will find a way to mix fact with fiction to make it seem real (IMO) it just gets old to me. Either way, I think being prepared is good, and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Just this 2012 shit is getting old.
