wheelin, camping, fishin and drinkin trip

What do you guys think about an trip like this on trails that aren't on Trail Damage that I am willing to share with you all? It is on the MVUM though, so it is all legal.
It is the area of Miller Rock that I have done a few times. 252.1 down to the river. The trail continues up and beyond and has some loops but I am scared shitless to do the climb out from there. This is a Jeeps opportunity to show our arrogant snow mobile asses up! LOL. It may be only one spot immediately past the river and then who knows what is ahead. I was thinking about doing it on a dirt bike and explore further to see if it was worth the risk. I think it may even go through and out to a road. I'm sure it is Zombie worthy.

Anyway there is a good size clearing at the river crossing and promises to be a great time and good fishing and well off the beaten path as I have not heard of anyone ever running it really. We can go out via Miller Rock way. Just have to make arrangements with the camp to open the gate.

No date planned but think we should wait till the snow melts some more so you guys can make it in your Jeeps but I am up for the challenge anytime. I'm sure it would be a ton of work to get through right now with several winch fests, but at least the beer can stay cold. I would rather do it when it is warmer though at least for the overnighter experience as we would have to be self contained in the 4x's.

I love camping but prefer to do it when it is warmer so I can bring the lady friend. I am set up for some cold weather camping but we can get that in July in these mountains. So where is this trail, and or Miller Rock?

If you look closely as you leave Raymond you will see the trail branch off in 4 directions. One goes to Miller Rock. If you go straight ahead at that intersection it will take you down to the Middle St Vrain.
I can supply you with much better maps. I have topos of all the areas that are of interest to me.
Do you have the MVUM proposal? Boulder county FS "Motor Vehicle Use Map".
If not I can give you the URL's of them. I'm uploading some now to my servers.

I should add, the Duess won't make it. LOL
The intersection is where the Miller Rock trail does a sharp right about 1.5" from the start.

My other maps show the trail down to the creek turning into a 4wd trail and going out to James Canyon.

For the remedial students in the room how do you get from say the Republic of Boulder to Raymond?

Also the Deuce will go anywhere I want it to. It's just not the right thing to go boondockin' around an obstacle or makin' my own trail.

Continue through Boulder on 36 and turn to go to Lyons. Take left turn at intersection and go up 7 to Raymond exit.
Ever heard of Mapquest? LOL

I know those rigs are bad ass but there is lots of trees that I doubt that you can mow down with it. I saw how much trouble you had getting up those cars at the 4 wheel parts M&G. You better get it locked and bring a big chainsaw. I would put all my money on it not making it no matter what the trail damage would be.

Just bring the Jeep and the warm cuddly thing. A quad or dirt bike may be nice to have too for a scouting trip.

I forgot to lock the front in while climbing those cars at 4WP. That's why the Deuce was pushing them. I am not sayin' they are the end all be all but they can do some shit. I do need to lock one of the rear axles. Maybe both.

Here is a bit more detail of the camp site area.
Yellow is the camp and Red is the hairy spot we have to get by to explore that side and maybe it leads out to LHC. The MVUM stops at all private property now but that doesn't mean the trail doesn't continue, only that it is out of FS jurisdiction. Miller Rock is case in point, it goes through to Overland Road but you have to call ahead to have the resort open or leave open the gate to access through. There is a Restaurant and cabin rentals there and I heard it is good.

MVUM shows more trails in the area.

For most all the maps I have and links to get more. Some good shit here from High Res Topos to all MVUM from S.E. Wy to central CO. You guys probably know all this shit though, after all you are the ZOMBIES!

X2 on the duece not making the trip to the bottom past the intersection going right to Miller Rock! It is really, REALLY narrow....Virgil and I did this portion last year and let me just say this....IT GETS HARRY! I'm talkin' our tires were on the very edge of a drop off of a few hundred feet or more, more than a few times! Once you get to the river it tells you DEAD END, however, we crossed the river (frozen at the time on foot) and found the FS sign with a Jeep symble on it and wondered if we could continue. We hiked up it for a few hundred yards and it just got narrow and more narrow to the point that we decided to turn back and go out the enterence in Raymond. To this day as a matter of fact Virg and I have been curious as to weather this part of the trail can be done and further more where it dumps out?! I would be very interested to see the results of the completion, if there were a group to do it. Personally, I would recommend an atv to scout the rest of this trail before a true 4x4 attempts it.....my .02c
We used to stack gooks like you five feet high in korea. Use you for sandbags. Now get the F*%k off my lawn!
