Going to look at a 98 tj this weekend. Anything specific I should look at on them? Common things?? Don't want to buy a turd.

Also it's an auto. Are they really only 3 speeds?

depends on the year, the 3 speed is just fine. Any auto without overdrive is a 3 speed.

It has a 44 and a 30 out of an 06' tj.
He wants to do a swap for the xj. I'm thinking about it but I'll probably keep mine. Not sure yet.

Depending on your needs of the vehicle in terms of day to day usage, this would be a good choice for fourwheeling base.
