Not sure if this is worth it but look what I got....

So my new girlfriend, who kicks ass by the way, got a new job working for a company who does cleanups in foreclosures and such. Anyway, she got a phone call about some leftovers and we ended up with a welder!

Did a little research on the welder and it's pretty versatile. It says it's an arc welder but has the ability to do arc, mig, or tig. Got a couple stingers with it as well as a couple chords and stuff. The white boxes in the pics a stuffed with arc welding rods and there's a couple spools of welding wire also. We heard some stuff rattling around in the brown tool box in the pic and found a bunch of welding tips and a full set of torch tips and the wand! I still can't believe it! Just gotta get a garage to put it in and I'm set! Btw, has anyone ever used a welder like this? I found and downloaded the instructions and it can be hooked up in single or 3 phase. I know single is typical of residential homes so that's the way I'd set it up to pull power. I guess it needs to have a spool gun to be used as a mig, but would flux core be my only option or can you use it with an argon bottle? I'm definitely a rookie when it comes to this stuff so any info would help and if I get anything I'll post up.

There will be a fitting on the machine for the hose from the regulator on the bottle to attach to if it takes gas usually. What a great score for sure! I have to have 3 welders just to do what that one does. I have never used a welder hooked to 3 phase, but it is cool that it can do that, is the other hook up single phase 220v?

Well strange thin Jim is that there is only one power input. From what I saw when I glanced at the directions it depends on how its wired. Forgive my ignorance but I didn't read into them that in depth yet. Plus I'm not much of electrician either so that doesn't help! Anyway, I'll do some homework and see what I find out about it.

In that case, there is probably another cord you would have to buy with three hots and a neutral that would be required for the three phase treatment (besides having the correct three phases setup to begin with)

If you get a chance to thumb through the manual, look and see if the welders duty cycle and max output change with three phase power, I am curious what the benefits are.
