'71 K502 build

Postby 502RamJet » Thu May 21, 2009 11:35 am

Hey all, I am in the beginning stages of my '71 K5 buildup. Here is a couple of photos of the rotten lump of iron I am starting with.
The specs are:
502 RamJet engine
Stage3 TH400 from Phoenix transmissions
Atlas4sp with the 5.44 to 1 low range
Dana 70 rear with Detroit and 4.88 gear ratio
Dana 60 Front 1979 Ford driver drop with ARB, Dedenbear knuckles, Longfield Super Axles
39.5" Iroks with Staun beadlocks
HAD drive shafts

Some of the first things that needed to be addressed were the bed and floor boards. This truck was well on it's way to being a Flintstone mobile.

I cut most of the drivers side floor board out and found the rocker boxes hadn't taking things too badly.

Looks like you have quite the project on your hands with the K5. What is the white and yellow machine that is parked behind it? Looks like some sort of off-road roadster or something?

I cut the patch panel to fit the gaping hole in the floor. I am not sure what all different trucks these patch panels fit, but the cutting and mild reshaping was fairly significant.

The white and yellow machine is a '36 Chevy Truck cab on a '78 Bronco chassis. It is fairly stripped right now as I change some of it's parts around, but it is a fun project too that will be on the back burner until the completion of the K5.

Thanks, a friend of mine originally constructed it. I had purchased it initially for the drive train for another project, but I loved the chassis, so I kept it and started thinking about what I would like to do to it.
