Drake Off Road Hood Hold Downs

Postby MikeyG » Thu Jan 05, 2012 10:17 am

So as most JK owners know the stock hood hold downs are CRAP! The stock rubber latches are very flexible and tend to stretch so much when driving at high speeds that the hood slaps up and down as much as an inch or so. Not good when driving through Kansas at 75 mph with a 30 mph head wind!

I found these Drake Hood Latches for a little over $100. They are high quality and use an adjustable turnbuckle and stainless steel heims with a quick release pin on a lanyard.

Installation took about 45 minutes and now the hood is nice and tight. Plus they look bad ass! I would also think they might help with gas mileage on long trips as the wind no longer catches the under side of the hood.

I would highly recommend these to anyone that owns a JK or wants a custom hood latch for their rig. Very nice product!

Those babies looks strong. Question: are the pieces bolting to the fender and hood stock?

The kit comes with all new hardware and parts. Nothing from the factory mounts / latches is used.

I have had them installed for about a week now and they are working great...no complaints what so ever.

I understand. I really was just wondering if the parts bolting to the body looked like they took apart a factory piece and created the attachment. As opposed to making the whole thing from scratch. Sorry I was not specific...

The molded parts are totaly different than the stock parts. Drake manufactured them from their own design although they use the factory mounting locations. The only part that is re-used from OEM is the rubber pad that sits between the fender and the hood when it is closed.
