Xj wheel/tire questions

Postby joshp xj » Tue May 17, 2011 1:51 pm

So I am in the process of changing some things on my rig. 99xj. Getting ready to install re7.5 inch front coils and 5.5 rear leafs with my 2 inch shackles amongst other things I'm doing. I'm getting ready to get wheel and tires. I'm planning on running a 35 12.50 15
Now as far as wheel backspacing I am going to run a 10 inch wide wheel. I can get a backspace of 2.5 or 3.75. Which backspace do you think would be best?

Definitely do not run a 15x10. the backspacing is too much and you'll be cutting for awhile. A 15x8 with a 4.5 backspace is the best option for an xj to keep the tires somewhat under the Jeep. You're cutting either way but will have less tire clearance issues with a 15x8.

Agreed. 15x10 is a pos. Nothing against those that have them.

Xj wheel/tire questions

I read the minimum wheel with is 9 inches I think for the 12.50 bfg. Is 8 going to be wide enough? Also on a side note rico aka "Cookie" how do you like those generals? I'm debating between the grabbers and the km2's. Thoughts?

Actually, the minimum rim width is 8.5 on the 35" BFG's but no problem runnin em on 8's. The Grabbers are awesome but availability is an issue with em. We have em in stock right now but when you plannin on pickin em up?

After running 10's for a few years I doubt I will ever again. Only thing I liked was the backspace. I'm running. 9's now and like them, I do need spacers now tho
