So I have decided to spend a little bit of my tax returns on some better protection for the front end of the CJ.

I currently have a PSC Trail Stinger bolted onto the front end of the frame. IMO one good nose dive and the little tabs holding it on are toast. Also I currently have nothing to protect the radiator / grill / hood if I were to take a hard flop or roll.

Here is the current configuration...



The plan is to get rid of the PSC Stinger and incorporate a Grill/Hood Hoop with a different "stinger" design which will come up just past the nose of the hood but not stick out a mile in front of the Jeep. I will also tie the stinger and hoop together with some horizontal supports. Another requirement is that it will need to be removeable in order to service the winch, grill, etc... if need be.

Got the first piece of the puzzle today from Blue Torch Fabworks...

Nice......In the Jeep world Clifton Slay started running the Stingers that stick out like the PSC unit to try and keep the Jeep's from going ass over front for rock crawling competition. It had the ancilary effect of hood protection in a side roll as well. He also designed the rear stinger/ spare tire carrier for front over rear protection. All of that can be considered dated kind of like ladies fashions.

So the new grille/hood protection should look good for ya.

I want/need one.

I do like the stinger (looks cool), but decided to just build some radiator and engine protection into my Jeep. Its ok if the hood gets bashed and all that. But if the radiator goes down or I clip the distributor, my day is done. I have come real close to rolling over forward before, but never done it. Each time I think "I should build a stinger"....

I've tried to pull my front stinger off a few time and have been defeated by busted torx bits everytime.

Fuckin torx, Id like to punch that mf who decided to use them on jeeps.

Weld on a nut... Solve that problem.
